This stage production by Olivier Lenel (Reste Poli Productions) at the Théâtre de la Vie revolves around the monologue entitled “Jackie” from the “Princess Plays” series by the Austrian winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, Elfriede Jelinek. The play explores the life of an individual who is battling with herself and others. In it, the complex role of Jackie is shared by two actresses, Marie du Bled and Marie-Paule Kumps.

What do we remember when we think of Jackie Kennedy? The woman who was misled and ridiculed, the dignified widow, or the media star? Jackie’s story, told with dry humour, explores the brute force and effort women need in order to meet the ideals of modern society. A cynical and insightful look at the role our society imposes on women: to show their worth without taking centre stage.

Venue: Théâtre de la Vie, Rue Traversière 45, 1210 Brussels
