Reading and discussion with Marc Elsberg
At the invitation of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank, Austrian author and novelist Marc Elsberg will read from his award-winning bestsellers Blackout and Zero. The two grippingly written and meticulously researched thrillers deal with a number of highly topical issues of modern society: the consequences of a week-long blackout caused by a hacker attack against European power grids, and the impact of digital transformation processes, the power of algorithms and the rise of big data.
The reading will be followed by a discussion with a Member of the European Parliament; afterwards the author will be available for a book signing.
Marc Elsberg worked as a columnist for the Austrian daily newspaper Der Standard and as a creative director in advertising in Vienna and Hamburg. He now lives and works in Vienna.
This event concludes the conference "Finance 5.0 – a challenge for cyber security", which is held under the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the EU and hosted by the Austrian Federal Chancellery and the Oesterreichische Nationalbank at the auditorium of the National Bank of Belgium in Brussels.
