The prestigious Wiener Symphoniker orchestra, founded in 1900, have their headquarters next to Vienna's world-famous concert halls, the Wiener Konzerthaus and the Musikverein, where they perform on a regular basis.

In Brussels, the heart of Europe, the orchestra will present an ambitious musical programme, conducted by Philippe Jordan, who has established himself as one of the most talented and exciting conductors of his generation.

The soloist of the concert is the Danish violin virtuoso Nikolaj Znaider, who is known for his  passionate, lyrical style. A real highlight of the evening is the piece Here&Now by Austrian composer Kurt Schwertsik, which will be played for the first time in Belgium.

Programme:

  • Here & Now (Belgian premiere) by Kurt Schwertsik
  • Concerto for violin and orchestra, op. 77 by Johannes Brahms
  • Symphony no. 9, op. 95, "From the New World"  by Antonín Dvořák
