On the occasion of the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the European Disability Forum (EDF) will – together with its Austrian member associations – familiarise persons with disabilities in Austria with EU policies. The implementation in Austria of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) will be discussed in parallel. Aiming at a better implementation of the UNCRPD, the focus will lie on the use and production of statistics containing reliable data. This will lead in the long term to evidence-based policymaking.

The workshop on the European Accessibility Act aims to enhance the capacities of persons with disabilities to allow for a better transposition of the directive later on. A further outcome will be concrete recommendations for decision makers.

Please note:
On 16 November from 14:30 to 18:00, the side event 'Using Artificial Intelligence to enhance accessibility – Opportunities and risks of emerging technologies for persons with disabilities' will take place at the same venue as the main event.
