Meeting of the Directors General for Vocational Education and Training (VET)

The main objective of the Meeting of the Directors General for Vocational Education and Training (DGVT) is to jointly define the key parameters for a post‑2020 European Vocational Education and Training (VET) policy and the forthcoming renewal of the outgoing European policy frameworks and target systems. The discussions will build largely on the outcomes of the Austrian Presidency conference on “The Future of VET in Europe” – which took place in Vienna from 9 to 10 July 2018 – thereby incorporating the results of the study by the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP) on the “Changing role and nature of VET in Europe” (http://www.cedefop.europa.eu/en/events-and-projects/projects/changing-nature-and-role-vocational-education-and-training-vet-europe). Parallel working sessions will provide an additional opportunity for in‑depth discussions on the various pillars of a future EU VET policy and for drawing up a joint vision of EU‑level cooperation in VET in the post‑2020 policy period. The programme will be rounded off by a number of site visits to Austrian VET schools and training firms.
