Interparliamentary Conference on Stability, Economic Coordination and Governance in the EU

Conference held within the scope of the Parliamentary Dimension of the presidency of the Council of the European Union

The Conference on Stability, Economic Coordination and Governance (SECG)  was established in 2013 under article 13 of the Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance in the Economic and Monetary Union (‘fiscal compact’), in order to strengthen cooperation between national parliaments and the European Parliament and to contribute to ensuring democratic accountability in the area of economic governance in the EU.

The conference convenes twice a year. In the first semester of each year it is held in the European Parliament in Brussels in the framework of the ‘European Parliamentary Week’. In the second semester of each year, it is held in the member state holding the presidency of the Council of the EU and is presided over by that member state’s parliament.
