#EuropeForCulture. Interactive walking routes represent the final highlight of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018

Published 30 Nov 13:52

On 6 December the closing event of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 takes place in the Vienna city centre. Interactive walking routes will take participants on a discovery tour of Austrian and European cultural heritage.

5 routes, 12 stations and innumerable stories

Interactive walking routes invite participants to discover our cultural past and build a bridge to the present and future. Participants can visit different stations in Vienna that allow them to interactively experience Austrian cultural heritage. They show its importance and playfully demonstrate how Europe’s cultural heritage can be approached today as well as the challenges associated with the preservation and continuation of our rich history.

The routes take visitors to see bones and skulls at the Natural History Museum Vienna, invite them to courtly napkin folding in the Hofburg Silver Chamber, to unwind while baking apple strudel according to old tradition or offer a new listening experience in the concert hall Wiener Konzerthaus. A total of 12 stations let you experience up close the diversity of our cultural life and demonstrate how past, present and future play together. Participants are invited to a joint closing ceremony in the Hofburg Vienna.

European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018

The interactive walking routes are organised as part of the closing conference of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018. During the course of a year and under the motto “where the past meets the future” a spotlight was cast on the importance of cultural heritage for our lives today and tomorrow.
