Press Conference with Federal Minister Norbert Hofer

Imagine Digital – Connect Europe (ICT 2018) is the key European event for research and innovation in the field of information and communication technology (ICT). The ICT events organised by the European Commission (EC) since 1998 have become Europe's most visible international forum for ICT innovation, and a unique gathering of the entire ICT research and innovation community.

The ICT 2018 is both the largest event of the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the EU and the largest expert meeting organised by the European Union.

The main events will take place from 4-6 December at Austria Center Vienna (ACV).

We warmly invite the ladies and gentlemen of the media to the following events:


4 December: Exhibition opening with Ingolf Schädler (BMVIT) and Claire Bury (EC),

from 12:15 to approximately 13:15 
Meeting point: Entrance to the STARTS area (Hall X5); interviews with Austrian exhibitors can subsequently be conducted in the Austrian Village
 

6 December: Press conference with Federal Minister Norbert Hofer and EU Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel

Information on the exhibition:

The Exhibition of Imagine Digital 2018 extends across two floors and a total area of 5 000m2 (Halls X3 and X4). It features government-funded ICT projects only (no companies). A total of about 100 exhibits will be shown. Along with the general exhibition, there are the INCO Village (projects from international collaborations), the Innovation and Start-Up Village, the EC Village (with EU flagship initiatives) and the Austrian Village. 

The Austrian Village presents six highlight projects funded by the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT): Main project Data Market Austria, Test Environment Alp.Lab, supra-regional initiative Silicon Alps, three pilot factories, four test regions AAL (Active & Assisted Living), main project Trustworthy Internet of Things and the BMVIT and the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) with the FFG funding vehicle (“Fördermobil”) and a Turing Test specially created for the Austrian Village. 

In other words, all the important digitalisation topics are represented at the Austrian Village: trust and security, the data economy, AI, e-based systems, automated driving, pilot factories – Industry 4.0. Funding from the BMVIT amounts to a total of approx. 25 million euros for all the highlight projects in the Austrian Village. These projects are presented in the Austrian Village also with an eye to playing a major part in H2020 Projects.
